Liberty Mine – Activation – US-CO-ME-LBRTY
How D:
I finally got all my ducks in a row and made my first MOTA activation. It was a chance to try out my first portable activation as well. It taught me a lot about what to take, what not to take and what I still need.
I picked the Liberty Mine because it was easy to get to, a good place to setup and not far from home. If I had forgotten anything, it was best not to travel too far. So I packed up the ATV, packed a case with with an ICom IC-718, Bioenno Power 9ah LiFePO4, RIGrunner 4004 power distribution, Buddipole Antenna and a clamp on shade umbrella.
A few images are posted here and I have a short YouTube video from the activation. MOTA Activation US-CO-ME-LBRTY
The Liberty Mine produced both Uranium and Vanadium. I have not been able to find any records on when it was opened or closed. I do know the Colorado DNR had a clean up operation there and it is documented on their site.
Join me in some MOTAs. Be safe and 73.
